Chapel IV - Presentation of Jesus at the Temple
The terracotta statues by Francesco Silva depict the presentation of Jesus before the priest Simeon. Completed in 1617, the date was engraved with the name of the sculptor on the side of the altar. On the left side, a thief trying to steal some coins and a dog silently watching mitigate the solemnity of the scene.
The walls are decorated by Giovanni Ghisolfi from Milan, who tried to restore the interior of the temple of Jerusalem thanks to rigorous perspective quadratures and to make the painted characters dialog with the terracotta statues.
