Chapel 14 - The Samaritan woman at the well
It depicts the scene of the encounter between Jesus and the Samaritan woman.
The chapel was built between 1572 and 1578. The sculpted scene was created by an unknown artist from Milan and was completed between 1578 and 1583. The painted decoration was recently attributed to the local artist Giovanni Battista Scolari, who followed a late Gaudenzian school of art and who began to make use of the late Mannerist models of Andrea Luini who appeared in the construction site of the Sacred Mount.
