Chapel 15 - The Healing of the Paralytic
It shows Jesus preaching to his disciples in a house in Capernaum while a paralytic is lowered from the uncovered roof so that Jesus may heal him.
The construction of the building had already started in 1572, when it still did not have a roof, which had to be completed in 1578 according to the model of the Book of Mysteries by Galeazzo Alessi (1565-1572) calling for the creation of a few main sculptures and painted figures. Since it was too small to accommodate a larger group of statues, it remained for several years without internal decoration. For this reason, between 1614 and 1620, it was decided to demolish part of it and expand it, adding a rectangular front structure. The internal scene was set up with terracotta statues by Giovanni d'Enrico around 1620, while about in 1621-1622 the Valsesia-based artist Cristoforo Martinoli decorated the walls with paintings.
