Chapel 17 - The Transfiguration on Mount Tabor
It houses the scene of the Transfiguration of Jesus who beaming with Light appears to the apostles who, at the foot of the Mountain, carry out miraculous actions.
The foundations of the building were already in place in 1578
The statues, attributed to Pietro Francesco Petera from Varallo and Giovanni Soldo from Camasco, assistant to Dionigi Bussola, were completed in the seventies of the seventeenth century. The frescoes (1666-1675 about) were the work of the Montaldo brothers, also known as the Danedi, Lombardy-region artists who also worked on the decoration of the dome of the Basilica of the Sacred Mount.
