Grand Tour on the Via delle Genti – Ghiffa Stop

The Via delle Genti (People’s Road) an ancient route connecting the towns of Verbano with Switzerland, runs along the hills overlooking Lago Maggiore, crossing woods, small villages and scenic viewpoints of great environmental value. The project’s name recalls the 19th century Grand Tours, those legendary journeys through Italy that marked the birth of cultural tourism, offering the opportunity to rediscover the artistic and naturalistic heritage of the peninsula.

Today, the Via delle Genti offers a modern reinterpretation of Grand Tour; an itinerary that starting from the Sacro Monte of Ghiffa, continues through villages such as Deccio, Novaglio, Oggebbio and Cannero, alternating lake views with wooded paths, meadows and natural stages. Along the way, contemporary art installations harmoniously interact with landscape, enhancing in a harmonic way both history and nature.

Thus, the Via delle Genti becomes an itinerary where nature, art and memory intertwine, a route that offers an authentic cultural experience immersed in the beauty of the Verbano Alto (Upper Verbano area).
