The walking route from Serralunga di Crea to the Sacro Monte di Crea is short yet enchanting, perfect for those wishing to reach the Sanctuary slowly and immerse themselves in the landscape. From the village centre, a gentle uphill path follows country lanes and tracks through the rolling Monferrato hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its vineyards and human shaped scenery. The trail winds among rows of vines, groves and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the soft undulations of the land and on clear days, the Alpine peaks in the distance.
The walk takes about 30 to 40 minutes at a relaxed pace, with moderate elevation gain, making it suitable even for families and non-expert walkers. As the climb continues, the landscape gradually changes; from vineyards to the green woods of the Sacro Monte di Crea Natural Park, where oaks and chestnuts create a peaceful, spiritual atmosphere leading up to the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Crea and the beginning of the Viale delle Cappelle (Avenue of Chapels), the start of the devotional route that culminates at the Sacro Monte’s scenic viewpoints.
