The chapel was built in 1715, financed by the community of Prascorsano and some of the local noble families. In 1872, the plaster statues partly replaced the original group of which only the Roman soldiers remain. The sculptures and paintings were restored in 2002. A simple architectural quadratura of the nineteenth-century painted decoration still exists. Aluffo painted the portions of the landscape, added in the first decade of the 20th century.
