St. Francis invites the first disciples to preach. First miracles.

The chapel was built and decorated between 1614 and 1619. It illustrates Francis, who is sending the friars around the world to preach and carry out the first miracles.  In the apse area, in the background, the figures of the friars are by Cristoforo Prestinari, and the paintings are by the Della Rovere brothers, also known as the Fiammenghini. They show Francis praying with his friars. The vault shows episodes from the Old Testament, while on the walls, the habit-taking ceremony of the friars, and Saint Francis praying for the first missionaries and their return. In the late 17th century, Dionigi Bussola added some more dynamic and spectacular statues of the friars, placed close to the wooden grating, later replaced by a railing.
