It is one of the most ancient chapels, financed by a community of people from Orta living in Rome. The statues, made by Cristoforo Prestinari, were already completed, when the bishop saw them in 1617. They represent friar Elijah who, together with other brothers, tries to convince Francis to mitigate the Rule. Around 1770, the frescoes were replaced with rococò paintings by Giovanni Battista Cantalupi, from Miasino. They depict Jesus who, appearing from a cloud, confirms that the Rule was ordered by him, as well as the rebellion of the Jews, after the report of the explorers from the Promised Land, and the threat of God to exterminate the people if he did not obey.
