Pope Nicolas V on the Tomb of the Saint
The chapel is part of the Canobian chapel, mentioned for the first time in 1617 by Bishop Taverna. In 1629, the group of sculptures made by Giovanni d'Enrico and his workshop was completed. It depicts Pope Nicholas V, accompanied by a bishop and a secretary, who went to pray on the tomb of the saint, placed in a secret place to prevent the body from being stolen. Francis appears standing in front of him, with his eyes turned to the sky and the stigmata bleeding. The painted decoration, badly damaged and not clearly visible, is attributed to the local painter Giacomo Filippo Monti.
