Peter's Repentance
The scene stages Peter who starts crying when the rooster crows because he remembered the prophecy of Jesus: "Before the rooster crows, you will have denied me three times."The statues were shaped by Giovanni d’Enrico around 1640, and the frescoes were painted by Christoforo Martinoli, also known as "il Rocca". At the end of the nineteenth century, the sculptor Giuseppe Antonini added beard and hair to the statue of Saint Peter.
