Jesus among the doctors

The chapel was financed by the city of Varese (1607-1623). It  is dedicated to the last of the Joyful Mysteries. Francesco Silva created the statues, which were painted by Carlo Francesco Nuvolone, along with the frescoes. On the right wall, there is his signature and the date 1650. The decoration of the chapel is focused on the theme of the Word of God: above the windows, Moses receives the tablets of the law, Ezra reads the book of the Lord to the people and, in counter-facade, the religious leaders discuss with Jesus at the temple. The decoration is completed with Sibyls, Prophets and Evangelists. The second arch leads to the Sorrowful Mysteries. On its top, there is a monumental statue of the blessing Carlo Borromeo, made by Carlo Antonio Buono (about 1651).
