Jesus praying in the garden

The chapel was built around 1623 and presents a group of sculptures attributed to Francesco Silva. Jesus is in the center with the angel who is offering him the chalice of the Passion. On the right, Peter, James and John are sleeping. While, on the left, there is a threatening group which is led by Judas. The frescoes (1630) are attributed to Bartolomeo Vandoni of Oleggio, near Novara. In the apse, in addition to the monumental Saint Matthew and Saint Luke, there are three scenes: Jesus who allows the soldiers to recognize him, the kiss of Judas and the capture of Jesus, while Peter cuts Malco's ear off. The left wall shows Judas entering the olive garden, while the right wall shows Jesus, now a prisoner, being taken away. Between the sixth and seventh chapels, there is the Grotto of the Blessed. There, in the fifteenth century, the founders of the Monastery of the Ambrosian Hermites, the Blessed Caterina and Giuliana, lived as hermites.
