The sculptures in this chapel, as in many others, were modelled by the Ticino sculptor Francesco Silva. We do not know much about him, but he left us a very theatrical depiction of 'Jesus among the doctors'. The doctors throw their books to the ground and make indignant faces at the young Jesus, who sits quietly in the centre of the scene.
The clothes worn by the characters are very accurate and well-finished. Some are typical of Jesus' time, while others reflect the Lombard fashion of the early 17th century.
