In this chapel, the angel announces to Mary that she is soon to become a mother. The scene, however, does not seem to be set in Palestine in the first century BC, but in a 17th-century Lombard house. The bed, the furniture and the clothes show a contemporary, not an ancient setting. Thus, the pilgrims who visited the chapels in the 17th century could grasp the message of the Gospel as alive and contemporary.
