The Sacro Monte of Oropa is much more than a sacred place; it is a world to explore, perfect for a family day out. At the foot or the Biella mountains, surrounded by woods and fresh air, this trail tells the story of the Madonna in a special way and takes adults and children on a stroll amidst art, nature and wonder.
The walk winds along a path that gently ascends through the greenery. The climb is not strenuous and each stretch offers spaces to stop and rest, play or simply gaze around. The chapels, scattered along the route, are like stations in a story; life-size terracotta sculptures, brightly coloured frescoes, scenes rich in detail that capture the attention of every visitor, even the youngest. Each stop is an opportunity to observe, imagine, ask questions, and be amazed. From the summit, a magnificent view opens up over the mountains and the great sanctuary, which welcomes everyone with its intimate atmosphere. The statue of the Madonna Nera (Black Madonna), an object of ancient devotion, fascinates even children with its solemn and mysterious appearance.
