Mary prefigured and prophesied
This chapel, financed by the community of Moncalvo and by Captain Giorgio Tenaglia, begins the story of the life of the Virgin Mary. In 1864, the chapel was bought by the Goria family of Pontestura, who completely renovated the scene. The group of sculptures, by Morra da Grazzano, depicts six Prophets: Moses, Balaam, Jeremiah, David, Isaiah and Ezekiel. In their works, they foresaw some aspects of the life of the Virgin Mary. The bas-relief decorating the altar depicts the prophecy of Moses: the Holy Mary is portrayed while she crushes the head of the tempting serpent.
