Presentation of the Vergin at the Temple

This chapel, built in 1590, by the Prior Constantino Massino, marks the beginning of the path leading to the chapel of Heaven. The original group of sculptures by the Tabacchetti brothers was destroyed in the Napoleonic era. It was replaced in 1814 by the statues of modest workmanship by the sculptor Varallo di Moncalvo. They depict Mary, Joachim, Anne and the High Priest. The frescoes on the walls, by Guglielmo Caccia, known as Moncalvo, and his apprentices, illustrate the reconstruction of the Temple of Jerusalem. On the vault, among the clouds, the Eternal Father looks down, surrounded by angels.
