Presentation of Jesus at the temple
The chapel, completed in 1598, was originally dedicated to the Nativity of Jesus, with statues by Giovanni Tabacchetti. However, after the huge damages suffered during the Napoleonic age, it was renovated and dedicated to the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple, with painted statues by Giuseppe Latini and Antonio Brilla. The original frescoes, by Alberini, which were damaged, were removed from the wall in the 19th century, and are now located both in the sanctuary and in the bishopric of Casale. The current paintings, from the late 19th century, are by Paolo Maggi, who painted the figures. While the decorative motifs were created by Agostino Caironi and Francesco Nicora.
