The current building is the result of late 19th-century renovations. The statues were created by Antonio Brilla. While Francesco Nicora painted the architectural perspectives, and Ponziano Loverini painted the figures. In 1935, Guido Capra restored the statues, replacing one of them, the flogger with a bare torso.
