Chapel 15

The crowning with thorns

The chapel was built around 1609 and financed by Alfonso de Corte of Pavia, as a votive offer for having escaped drowning. It depicted the return of the Holy Family from Egypt. Rebuilt in 1886, it later housed the Crowning with Thorns. The statues were created by Brilla, on the painted scene by Nicora, depicting an environment of the Palazzo Pretorio of Pilate.
