The chapel, originally dedicated to the Death of Saint Joseph, was seriously damaged in the Napoleonic age. In 1887, Canon Bussi ordered new statues to Antonio Brilla; while the frescoes were the work of Paolo Maggi. The figure of the Good Thief, fallen, was replaced in 1902.
