The first station is a reconstruction of the eighteenth-century chapel (1742-1743), which was destroyed by an explosion in 1830, as it was used to store gunpowder. The sculptures are the work of Pietro Mosca (1909), from Biella, and depict Jesus before Pilate, surrounded by a group of soldiers.
