The third fall

The chapel was built around 1664. The group of sculptures are by Giuseppe Rusnati from Milan (1702-03), who also worked at the Sacro Monte of Orta. The scene contains three-dimensional sculptures, as well as sculptures applied directly to the walls, and frescoes, which were painted by Tarquinio Grassi, from Romagnano Sesia (1710). This setting adopted the model conceived by Gaudenzio Ferrari for the Sacro Monte of Varallo, at the beginning of the 16th century.
