My assistants and I have been working on the Sacro Monte for ten years. Now we are finishing the chapel donated by Canobio. Here there will be the solemn mass in which the Pope, sitting at the altar, illuminated by the Holy Spirit, will declare Francis a saint. It will show the greatest ecclesiastical splendour: gold, colours, flowers, lace, embroidery, vases and any other sacred furnishings. The figures of more than fifty clergymen will make the chapel the most sumptuous on the Monte.
Orta is a very magnificent and noble city. I have worked in other Santissimi Monti, in Domodossola, in Varallo, in Varese and recently also in Galliate. But no place is as wonderful as the Riviera d’Orta. I am particularly fond of the gentlemen. I enjoy fishing and feasting with them: the wine and the food are excellent.
